| Exciting Media Film Project |
|
Members of MO’s Army have volunteered to take part in an exciting 5 week film-making project called House of Commoners, in connection with The Hoody project from Stanley and Superkrush film-makers. The project has been funded by First Light and will be produced by Engage Media. The group have now started to develop and star in a short film decided by themselves on the subject of homeless issues. They have been busy deciding on plot, characters and script development and will soon begin filming their ideas. The group meet for a few hours every Wednesday over 5 weeks to complete the project. The aim is to provide the group with a sense of achievement and to develop increased self confidence in their own abilities; the project might even produce some new found talent! In the past seven years Superkrush have helped young people from a variety of backgrounds, supporting them to acquire the skills necessary to produce their own films. Young people from around the North East have been introduced into all elements of filmmaking, from acting to script development, from filming to editing. Their projects work consistently alongside skilled practitioners, to ensure that the people they support gain transferable skills which aid their social inclusion and future employability whilst also developing ever-progressive, thoughtful and award-winning film works. The film will be used as a resource to spread the word about homeless issues which affect young people in the region through peer education opportunities. House of Commoners Development Diary The filming has now been completed and is currently being edited for the final film. The young people involved in this project worked extremely hard and are proud of their achievement. To celebrate the end of the project everyone involved enjoyed a group barbecue. There will be a premiere of the film in Durham in September so watch this space for the details.
