Debbie is a young single mother who lives alone with her two children, a two-year-old and a nine-month-old. Throughout her time with Moving On, her support worker had offered mental health support or additional activities to Debbie and she had declined, stating she manages things fine on her own.
During an appointment with her support worker, Debbie identified that she struggles to get out of the house very often and is feeling low as a result of the social isolation. Debbie declared that she receives little support from her family in terms of childcare, as her relationship with them is very up and down.
I visited Debbie after a discussion with her support worker to offer her some low-level wellbeing activities, in an attempt to improve her overall mental wellbeing. We discussed how Debbie would like her support from myself to look and she requested monthly wellbeing activities, such as going to parks, or going to soft play or the farm.
I arranged a day trip with myself, Debbie and her two children, to go to Adventure Valley together. This was a big step for Debbie, and she reports that she and the children had a great time.
Debbie has since acknowledged with her support worker that she would like some additional mental health support, to target some of trauma she holds from her past.
