Louise has been with Moving On for almost 6 months now. Although early in her tenancy, Louise is already making positive progress and proving she is committed to developing her tenancy management skills and living a settled life.
Louise came to us as a Looked After Child and openly shared with staff that she struggles to manage her emotions and this manifests itself as challenging behaviour. Due to engagement issues, it was difficult for Louise to obtain all of her household items through her grants and as a result, she did not feel that her property was homely. She experienced some personal difficulties with her mental health and relationships and, at the time, it appeared she may have quite an unsettled period. Quite early in her tenancy she discovered she was pregnant and raised some concerns with those close to her. Louise’s emotional resilience took a further decline due to her worries.
Louise has since made significant progress with her emotional resilience and personal development. She has developed healthy strategies to manage her emotions and is engaging extremely well with her support network. She meets with her support worker once per week and has been committed to setting and working towards personal goals. She has developed her budgeting and cooking skills and attends all her health appointments independently. Her home is now fully furnished and this is maintained to a good standard. She has improved her personal relationships due to her ability to manage her own feelings and behaviours.
Louise has hopes to work with animals in the future and undertakes a lot of voluntary work as a dog walker. She aspires to obtain her diving licence and eventually run her own business as a dog walker. Her support worker will continue to support her with her tenancy development and when the time is right, after the birth of her child, will support her to attend education or training related to her goals.
